Museum-Cafe of the South Railway and cafe in Kharkov

An unusual retro cafe with a museum and a "waiter" - a locomotive.

In 2014 the Museum of History and Technology of the Southern Railway was born. Three exhibition halls of the museum are located in the reconstructed building of the commodity warehouse of 1950.
The museum consists of three halls. They are divided according to the epochs: the Green Hall (the pre-revolutionary period of the construction and formation of the Kursk-Kharkov-Azov road), the Red Hall (the Soviet period of the Southern Railway development) and the Blue Hall (the history of development in times of independent Ukraine).
Here a lot of old and rare exhibits, unique documents and photographs, models of rolling stock are collected.
Transport in full scale can be seen on the open exhibition site of the museum - there are dozens of wagons of different times, including the Felix Dzerzhinsky locomotive, which was made in Lugansk 75 years ago, and servicing and military vehicles.

The unusual cafe "Lokomotiv" adds a special mood to visiting the museum.
Here we drank coffee after inspecting the exhibits of the museum. And we took the potato pie. Because this pie came to us on a toy locomotive.
The menu of cafe is quite standard for a railway station: salads, first courses, sandwiches, coffee and ice cream. We tried pancakes with honey - it was a good choice for a pleasant breakfast.
