Darvina Street in Kharkov

An island of an old architecture in the city center.

We strolled along Darwin Street from the Metro of Architect Beketov, through Pushkinskaya, down towards the Kharkov River.
Kharkiv during the war was almost completely destroyed, not so many streets were able to save their ancient architecture.

The House of the Architect, the House of the Artist, the Ukrainian-British College, the typical Soviet high-rise building of the student polyclinic. Towards the end of the street - houses No. 21 and 23, built by the architect Beketov in 1901 and 1903 using elements of neo-renaissance - embody the spirit of the last century.
Near the house of the architects on Darwin very often photographed newlyweds.
There are a lot of memorial plaques on this street, rich in its history.
Darwin is one of the shortest streets in Kharkov. The numbering is slightly over 30.
Unusual houses on this street are very many - beautiful, original, unique.
The artist's house in Darwin collects a lot of truly creative Kharkovites.
The length of the street is only 700 meters.
